The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has flagged off the construction of the N62.8 billion Gusau International Airport in Zamfara State.

The project aims to boost the state's economy, particularly in agriculture, tourism, and education, among other sectors.

Keyamo emphasized the significance of the airport, stating that it will be historic when completed, marking a new chapter for Zamfara State.

He noted that Zamfara has been left behind in terms of airport infrastructure compared to other states in the North-West, but the new airport will be a major improvement.

Keyamo also highlighted the importance of connecting all parts of the country by air, both socially and economically.

Governor Dauda Lawal expressed his gratitude for the project and assured that it will be completed within the 30-month timeline. He emphasized the economic benefits of the airport, stating that it will have a tremendous impact on agricultural business and other social transactions in Zamfara State.

The Gusau International Airport is expected to feature state-of-the-art facilities, including a 3.4-kilometer primary runway suitable for commercial aircraft, a modern terminal building with passenger facilities, and other amenities.
