Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, addressed staff at the Osun State University (UNIOSUN) during the institution's 14th convocation ceremony, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a peaceful environment to foster development.

He urged university personnel to avoid actions that could disrupt the progress of the institution.

Governor Adeleke expressed his administration's unwavering support for the decisions made by the university's council and management regarding staff welfare.

He highlighted the university's "no-strike no-Aluta" policy as a significant factor contributing to its rapid advancement, clarifying that this approach should not be misconstrued as oppressive but rather as a hallmark of effective leadership.

In his remarks, he said, “The culture of no strike and no aluta does not in any way presuppose oppression or dictatorship. Rather, it is an indication of good leadership at all levels of the University governance.”

He reassured attendees that the State Government fully trusts the Governing Council and Management in their handling of welfare matters.

However, he cautioned staff members against taking this support for granted. He warned that any attempts to instigate unrest over resolved welfare issues would not be tolerated, asserting that council decisions are made within legal frameworks.

The Vice Chancellor of UNIOSUN, Professor Clement Adebooye, also spoke at the event, stressing the necessity for increased investment in education over national and global challenges.

He remarked on the university's resilience and commitment to excellence, despite facing economic constraints and operational challenges.

Professor Adebooye stated, “At a time like this when there is an increase in societal, national and global challenges, the wisest decision any Government and nation can take is to invest more in quality education.”
