Davido Seeks Custody of Imade in Court, Battle with Baby Mama

Boluwatife Adedokun

Internationally acclaimed singer David Adeleke, known as Davido, has taken legal action against Sophia Momodu, the mother of his first child, Imade, seeking custody of their daughter. Filed on April 17, 2024, at the Lagos State High Court, Davido's motion requests joint custody or, alternatively, unrestricted access to Imade.

Davido detailed his efforts to support Imade, including paying her school fees, providing accommodation, and buying vehicles for transportation. He also claimed to have offered Momodu a N200m apartment, which she declined, opting instead for a rented facility.

Despite his contributions, Davido alleges that Momodu has made excessive demands and hindered his relationship with Imade. The singer recounted instances of Imade’s absenteeism from school and ongoing disputes with Momodu over child-rearing expenses.

Davido and Momodu have had a contentious relationship, with past conflicts including disagreements over Imade’s last name.
