Emmanuella Amarachi Ozioko

Nigeria's First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, in her message to commemorate World Autism Awareness Day, has stressed the significance of recognising and celebrating the unique creativity and strength of individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

She lauded their resilience and called attention to the problems faced by families assisting loved ones with autism, appreciating their steadfast love and commitment.

Senator Tinubu emphasized the essential role played by community organizations in providing crucial support, resources, and golden opportunities for individuals with autism and their families.

She stressed the importance of early diagnosis and intervention in enabling those with autism to reach their full potential, advising parents and carers to remain watchful about developmental milestones and seek professional help on time if any concerns arise.

The First Lady’s words resonated with a call to action, stressing the joint effort needed to create a world where individuals, regardless of their challenges, are included, empowered, and celebrated for their unique gifts.

World Autism Awareness Day stands as a reminder of the comprehension, acceptance, and assistance for individuals with autism and their families.

Remi Tinubu said: “The journey for families with loved ones who are autistic can be troubling. Today, I salute and celebrate their steadfast love and dedication. I also recognise the essential role of community organisations in providing assistance, resources, and opportunities for individuals with autism and their families.
