The assassination took place in the Canadian province of British Columbia back in June, sending shockwaves through the nation.

Canadian Foreign Minister, Melanie Joly, addressed the matter, emphasizing the gravity of the allegations. She stated that if these allegations were proven true, it would constitute a significant violation of Canada's sovereignty.

"These allegations are very serious, and if proven true, this would be a great violation of our sovereignty and of the most basic rule of how countries deal with each other," Joly declared. "As a consequence, we have expelled a top Indian diplomat."

Joly further asserted that Canada expects India to fully cooperate in the investigation and work towards resolving this issue. She highlighted the need for both nations to work together to get to the bottom of this serious matter.

In addition to the foreign minister's statements, Canada's Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, confirmed that national security agencies are actively investigating these "credible allegations." He stressed the importance of pursuing any potential links between agents of the Indian government and the tragic killing of Canadian citizen Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

"Over the past weeks, Canadian security agencies have been actively pursuing credible allegations of a potential link between agents of the government of India and the killing of the Canadian citizen, Hardeep Singh Nijjar," Trudeau stated. The investigation continues as both countries navigate this delicate and sensitive situation.
