I Began Reading At The Age Of 3, Says Alibaba

Alibaba, a veteran Nigerian comedian, recently revealed that his parents' primary goal for him to pursue was law school because of his early reading skills, which began at the age of three.

He revealed this as a guest on The Honest Bunch Podcast's Christmas episode.

“My dad was keen on me pursuing law because parents were remarkably attentive in those days.

“In my case, I began reading at the age of three. I immersed myself in the New Nigerian, the West African Pilot, the Observer Tribune, Sunday Times, and various other newspapers.

“Observing my ability to read, write, engage in conversations, and argue persuasively, my dad concluded that I was destined to be a lawyer and guided me accordingly.”

In 1984, he scored 201 on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exam. He failed mathematics in the General Certificate of Education (GCE), however, and was unable to gain entrance to the University that year. Nonetheless, when he started school the next year, he began to hone his comedy skills, despite his father's disapproval of his chosen profession.
