1.6m Nigerians Submit Applications To CREDICORP

The CEO of Credit Corporation (CREDICORP), Uzoma Nwagba, revealed on Tuesday that over 1.6 million Nigerians have applied for credit following the recent launch of the Consumer Credit Corporation.

The effort was spearheaded by President Tinubu and launched on April 21, 2024, with the goal of giving the nation's working population more access to credit so they can make essential expenditures.

Nwagba said he was taken aback by the sheer number of applications he had received in the three weeks since the program's launch.

According to the CEO, applicants have actively participated in the programme and have supported their requests with a wealth of financial and personal data.

“As of today, we have about 1.6 million Nigerians who indicated interest, told us what they do, submitted their income information, and what they need credit for. We didn’t even expect that volume,” Nwagba added.

President Tinubu assigned Nwagba, who was appointed as the first CEO on April 5, to head the important project.

In light of his position, he said that it is their duty, and they are ready to go methodically in order to make sure they continue to go through Nigeria's demographics.
