Nine months later, the seats of the monarchs ousted by Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, in November of the previous year, still remain unoccupied. Just two days after Adeleke's inauguration on November 27, 2022, he issued an executive order leading to the dethronement of the Owa of Igbajo, Aree of Iree, and Akinrun of Ikirun.

Without delay, he directed security agents to take control of the palaces belonging to the dethroned monarchs and formed a review committee to examine the selection of these traditional rulers.

The inaugurated panels consisted of the Staff Audit/Appointment/Promotions Review Committee, the State Assets Inventory and Recovery Committee, the Contact/MOU/Agreements Review Committee, and the Chieftaincy Affairs Review Committee, chaired by Dr. Muyiwa Oladimeji, Dr. B. T. Salam, Hon. Niyi Owolade, and Rev Bunmi Jenyo, respectively.

While the seats continue to remain vacant, the white paper containing the committee's findings has not yet been issued. Dosu Babatunde, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, informed Saturday Sun that the committee's report was submitted to the governor prior to the inauguration of commissioners.

In his words: 'The report had been submitted to the governor prior to the formation of the executive committee. The white paper on the report will be released soon.'

Olawale Rasheed, the spokesperson for Governor Ademola Adeleke, confirmed that the committee had indeed delivered its report to the governor and that a white paper committee had been established.

He elaborated that the delay in submitting the white paper was due to the fact that the executive committee hadn't convened yet.

Rasheed reassured that the governor would soon convene a meeting of the state executive committee during which the white paper is likely to be presented for approval."
