Barely hours after reinstating HRH Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano, the newly elected Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has ordered the immediate arrest of the former Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero.

In a statement issued by the Governor's spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, it was revealed that Governor Yusuf gave the order for the arrest of the former Emir due to his alleged role in creating tension and unrest in the state.

According to the statement, the former Emir, Aminu Ado Bayero, was smuggled into Kano City late last night in an attempt to forcefully return to the palace, just two days after being deposed by the newly elected Governor.

Bature further confirmed that the reinstated Emir, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, arrived at the palace in the early hours of Saturday, May 25th, 2024, accompanied by the Governor, the Deputy Governor, the Speaker of the State Assembly, and other top government officials.

The statement emphasized that as the Chief Security Officer of the state, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has directed the Commissioner of Police to immediately arrest the deposed Emir, Aminu Ado Bayero, for allegedly disturbing public peace and attempting to undermine the relative stability the state has been enjoying.
