Abducted Wife of Slain Ekiti Monarch Rescued by Police

Wife of late Oba Olusegun Aremu-Cole, who was gruesomely murdered in his palace last Thursday, and one other victim were rescued from a forest between Ekiti and Kwara state Yesterday, February 5, 2024.

It was gathered that 13 suspects have also been apprehended following the incident.

A press statement made available to newsmen by the Spokesperson of Kwara State Police Command, DSP Ejire Adeyemi Adetoun, on Tuesday morning, said the rescued victims are healthy and have been reunited with their families, while the suspects are currently in police custody undergoing vigorous interrogations to arrest other members of the kidnapping gang.

DSP Adetoun equally noted in the statement that the rescue operation was successful due to combined efforts of the DSS, the military, police, and the local hunters.

A subsequent report from the police  noted that the rescue was also made possible with the use of helicopters released on the order of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, which was used to comb the thick forest between Ekiti and Kwara state.

It noted that the helicopter used by the military was able to locate the suspects and the victims in the forest, following which they were arrested on Monday.
