Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has declared that the state has already keyed into President Bola Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda.”

Otti, who made the disclosure while inaugurating the 9-kilometre Obehie-Okeikpe Road reconstructed by the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, at the cost of N3 billion, commended Tinubu and NDDC management for alleviating the plights of commuters.

In addition to the inauguration, the governor played a crucial role in initiating the project's next stage. This second phase will continue construction from Akwete and pass through Azumini before reaching the border with Akwa Ibom State.

Otti, represented by his deputy, Ikechukwu Emetu, expressed happiness that the federal road, which had been in deplorable condition for decades, had finally received attention.

The governor, who affirmed he inherited a lot of infrastructural dilapidation, said his government had started changing the narrative in line with Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda.

He, however, appealed to NNPC to also give attention to so many uncompleted projects awarded by the Commission in parts of the state to alleviate the sufferings of the masses.

“I express my appreciation to the NDDC for their successful completion of this project. The speed of the repairs exceeded my expectations. This shows that the new management of NDDC is working hard,” he asserted.

Also, the Managing Director of NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, highlighted the Obehie-Okeikpe road inauguration as fulfilling a presidential directive to prioritise completing abandoned NDDC projects. Awarded in April 2022, this road is crucial for the economic development of the Niger Delta region, connecting Rivers, Abia, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states.
