Sarki Yori Danladi, chairman of the Northern Traditional Council, South-South, and South-East communities, has affirmed that the Northern community living in Abia State will support the governor's efforts to improve the state.

Danladi made the disclosure at the weekend when Mr. Philemon Ogbonna, the Abia State Commissioner for Environment, paid him a courtesy visit at Eket Street in Umuahia, the state capital, during the June environmental sanitation exercise in Abia State.

He opined that the Northern community in Abia has keyed into Governor Alex Otti-led administration's policy of keeping every part of the state clean for the physical well-being of its people.

He said, We have informed the General Manager of Abia State Environmental Sanitation that our people are eager to support Governor Otti's vision for Abia. We believe responsible residents are key to a clean state, and we are dedicated to playing our role.

We have cautioned our people to keep their environment clean to avoid the spread of any disease in our surroundings. We applaud the governor for fixing the roads around our business environment and desilting a tunnel at Eket Street that has been of great concern to us for years.

Reacting, the commissioner commended the residents of Umuahia, the state capital, for participating in the June monthly clean-up programme in large numbers.

He expressed satisfaction at the level of compliance by residents and cautioned visitors to always stop their movement during sanitation hours to avoid apprehension by law enforcement agencies.

The Commissioner for Environment said the Ministry under his watch would make Abia one of the cleanest states in Nigeria, and he won't rest until it is achieved.

Ogbonna said, The June clean-up exercise was supervised by a combined team from the Ministry of Environment, the Abia State Environmental Sanitation and Protection Agency, and the Umuahia North Local Government Area.
