Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has appointed retired Chief Superintendent of Police, Adekunle Omoyele, as the new Corps Commander for the Osun Amotekun Corps.

Amotekun is a security network established by the governors of the six South West states to support federal security agencies.

In a statement on Thursday, Idowu Yusuff, the spokesperson for the security outfit, announced that Omoyele will replace the outgoing Corps Commander, Brig. Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi (retd.), whose tenure has ended.

Yusuff highlighted that Omoyele previously served as Chief Security Officer to Governor Adeleke after retiring from the Nigeria Police Force. "Governor Adeleke recently appointed him as the Special Adviser on Internal Security and Local Matters, and now as the Corps Commander of Osun Amotekun Corps,” Yusuff said.

Omoyele’s appointment takes immediate effect, according to the statement.
