Alhaji Shehu Muazu, the Commissioner of Agriculture in Kebbi State, has clarified that the recent looting in Kebbi was not connected to the state government, and the stolen food items were from the Dangote foundation.

In a press conference in Birnin Kebbi on Monday, Muazu accused the Dangote foundation of diverting truckloads of 5kg of rice without informing the security agencies, raising suspicion among members of the public that they may want to hoard it with the intent to deny them, which could be the reason for the sporadic looting in the state.

However, the state government strongly condemned the looting and labeled the looters as miscreants seeking any opportunity to strike, cautioning that they will face severe consequences.

He explained that a 13-man committee has been established to investigate the cause of the looting and report within five days. This resolution was reached after an extraordinary security meeting was held earlier to strategize on how to prevent future incidents.
