As the heat of the Emirship tussle in Kano continues, the reinstated and deposed emirs led Eid el-Kabir prayers at separate prayer grounds around the state on Sunday.

Due to rain, Emir Muhammad Sanusi II and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf conducted prayers inside the Kofar Mata Juma'at Mosque, while Emir Aminu Ado Bayero worshipped at the Nassarawa Mini Palace Mosque.

After the prayer, Emir Sanusi II went to Gidan Shettima Palace in Kofar Kwaru and held a brief durbar in violation of the ban imposed by the Kano State Police Command.

After reciting the two-unit prayers behind Emir Sanusi II, Governor Yusuf advised Kano residents to remain calm and peaceful as they go about their lawful businesses.

Although the governor claimed that the police in the state did not consult him before deciding to ban the colorful durbar events, the police maintained the ban was necessary for peace and security.

Ahmad Yakasai, a former commissioner in the state who prayed alongside Emir Bayero, expressed gratitude for the peace the state is currently enjoying peace despite the Emirship tussle.
