A civil suit has been filed against Lead British International School, Gwarinpa, Abuja, by the family of Ms. Namitra Bwala, a student of the school.

The lawsuit comes after a viral video showing Ms. Bwala being bullied by her fellow students was circulated on social media a few weeks ago.

The family is requesting N500 million and a public apology in two national newspapers due to the school's alleged failure to provide a safe learning environment for their daughter, as evidenced by the general damages claim.

The lawsuit filed at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, alleges the school's failure to prevent the assault, inform the parents immediately, and carry out an investigation until the incident became public on social media while she was under the supervision of the school amounts to negligence.

Bwala's lawsuit is intended to be a catalyst for the school to enact drastic changes and adequate measures to prevent similar bullying from happening again in the school.
