Fatal Crash in Ijebu Ode Claims Two Lives, Leaves 13 Injured

Two individuals lost their lives, and thirteen other passengers were injured in an accident on Saturday around 1:21 pm near Ajede, after J3 Junction along the Ijebu-Ode-Ore-Benin expressway. 

The accident involved a Toyota Hiace bus from Iyare Motors, bearing plate number GUE59ZY, which collided with a stationary truck with plate number BGT94LG, resulting in the tragic incident. 

Florence Okpe, spokesperson for the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, disclosed this in a statement to the press. 

The accident was attributed to the bus driver's excessive speed, causing him to lose control and collide with the parked truck. 

The injured were taken to Hope Hospital in J4, while the deceased were taken to the morgue of General Hospital, Ijebu Ode.

The statement emphasized the need for motorists to avoid wrongful parking on highways, and to prioritize safety by using caution signs and avoiding excessive speeding.
