Four passengers died in a collision between a Toyota Sienna bus and a tricycle popularly known as Keke napep along the Aba-Ikot Ekpene highway in Abia State, Nigeria. The accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Eyewitnesses said the bus was speeding towards Aba while the tricycle, carrying four passengers, including the driver, was travelling to a border community between Abia and Akwa Ibom states.

They blamed the crash on the bus driver's excessive speed and disregard for the condition of the road, which is currently under construction

It was gathered that the Aba-Ikot Ekpene highway is still undergoing rehabilitation as some parts are yet to be completed.

Onlookers made efforts to vacate the dead bodies while soldiers chased those who were taking pictures at the scene of the incident.

A youth group in the area, known as the Agalaba Patriotic Forum, was said to have called on the construction company handling the road a few days ago, urging them to make haste to correct some of the poorly rehabilitated areas of the road as they pose a risk to travellers.
