Suleja, the thriving commercial centre of Niger State, has seen a fresh round of protests today as residents lament the dire economic conditions that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's government has brought on.

Suleja is just a distance away from the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

According to an eyewitness who shared photographs with our correspondent showing frustrated Nigerians occupying the streets of Suleja on Wednesday, “There is a protest ongoing at the Suleja local government area of Niger State. They are calling on Tinubu to end the hardship the masses are suffering on a daily basis in the country,” the eyewitness reportedly said.

 According to reports, this recent protest is happening just two days after hundreds of residents from Minna, the capital city of Niger State, demonstrated against the country's rising inflation. Men, women, and youths joined in the demonstrations, and they all expressed worry over the rising cost of fuel and gas.

Videos circulating on social media spaces showed the protesters obstructing important highways and drawing attention to the government's lack of action to address the skyrocketing price of food.

The demonstrators attracted the attention of security personnel, including police officers, as they chanted protest songs.

In response to the crisis, Deputy Governor of Niger State, Yakubu Garba, said he was aware of the hardships and pain that families across the nation endure.

Yakubu told the protestors that the government was working hard to bring down living expenses and deal with the financial fallout from the removal of the fuel subsidy.
