Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has officially opened a new facility which will serve as the Navy Training Command Headquarters in Rivers State. The facility is located in the Ebubu community in the Eleme Local Government Area of the state.

The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, dedicated the auditorium at the training command headquarters, naming it after Rear Admiral M. A. B. Elegbede, a notable indigenous top Navy official.

The Navy Training Command's current headquarters is in Rivers State, South-South, Nigeria, although it was formerly located in Lagos State, South-West, Nigeria. On Thursday, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla announced the move to the public during a courtesy visit to the Government House.

During the visit, Vice Admiral Ogalla affirmed that the relocation marks a significant strategic move by the Nigerian Navy. He emphasized the value of having the headquarters of its Navy Training Command in an oil-rich and riverine state like Rivers.

He affirmed that the decision aligns with the Navy’s objective to improve its operational capabilities, particularly in maritime security, anti-oil theft, and defense in the Niger Delta region.
