Gov. Otti Denies Supporting IPOB’s Sit-at-Home Order

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has denied supporting the sit-at-home order declared by the Indigenous People of Biafra, on May 30 to commemorate those lost during the Nigerian Civil War.

Governor Otti, through his spokesperson, Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma, stated his administration's desire to avoid conflict and acknowledged the right to mourn fallen loved ones.

Meanwhile, the state government, in a statement made available by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, revealed that Governor Otti did not make the statement attributed to him, nor does it reflect his personal views or those of the state government under his leadership.

The governor emphasises his unwavering commitment to citizens' rights, including freedom of movement and livelihood. He calls attention to his administration's success in improving security and reducing crime in Abia State.

The statement condemns the recent killings of security personnel in Obikabia and reiterates the government's ongoing efforts to apprehend the perpetrators. A 25 million Naira bounty remains in place for information leading to their arrest.
