Gunmen Attack UNTH Again, Abduct Deputy Director, Security Man

Idongesit Udoewah

Tuesday morning saw another attack on the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Ituku Ozalla, in Enugu State by armed men who have been suspected to be kidnappers.

A security guard and a female deputy director of the hospital were allegedly taken hostage by the kidnappers.

This sad event happened just a few months after a resident doctor was attacked and kidnapped by gunmen on the hospital grounds, but he eventually managed to escape.

In a widely shared video, an SUV purportedly owned by the kidnapped woman was seen abandoned and had glass on the passenger side of the front that had been shot through.

As of the time this report was filed, neither the police nor the hospital administration had confirmed the event.

However, a trustworthy source who verified the occurrence claimed it happened at the same spot where a doctor was kidnapped a few weeks ago.

“This is so sad; we are not safe at all in this hospital; everywhere is porous,” a distressed staff lamented.”
