Hunter Held for Alleged killing of Osun man

Boluwatife Adedokun

An unidentified hunter has reportedly fatally shot a resident of Iwo in Osun State early Tuesday morning near the Latico area.

The suspect was apprehended by police as he attempted to remove the body before dawn. This led to local residents protesting and blocking roads with bonfires.

Security agencies intervened to calm the situation.

Both the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Osun State Police Command have launched investigations into the incident and have urged the public, especially hunters, to handle firearms responsibly to prevent further tragedies.

This comes after previous warnings about firearm misuse, following several incidents of accidental discharge resulting in fatalities and injuries.
