In Odeomu, Ayedaade Local Government Area of Osun State, a vehicle with registration number BDG 481 JD (Lagos) was set ablaze by angry youths after it crushed four persons to death in a road accident. The incident occurred when the vehicle, reportedly coming from Osogbo, collided with a motorcycle carrying a middle-aged woman and her three children.

The occupants of the vehicle were identified as students of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, who were traveling to Lagos after completing their first semester examinations. Following the accident, the infuriated youths set the vehicle on fire. While the driver managed to escape, police intervened just in time to rescue the two other occupants, who had already been set ablaze by the mob.

Osun State Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident and called for calm, assuring the community of police intervention. "The driver escaped immediately after the accident happened. Despite our appeals to the angry mob, they set the remaining two occupants of the vehicle ablaze. We managed to extinguish the fire and transferred them to a hospital in Osogbo," Opalola stated.
