Kebbi Gov Approves N309m for Foreign Scholarship

Dr. Nasir Idris, the Governor of Kebbi State, has sanctioned the disbursement of N309,584,041.80 for the payment of foreign scholarships to students from the state studying in India and Egypt. Alhaji Isah Abubakar-Tunga, the State Commissioner of Higher Education, disclosed this during a press briefing in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday.

Breaking down the allocation, Abubakar-Tunga stated that N228,150,148:00 is designated for 63 students studying in India, while N81,433,893:80 is earmarked for 23 students in Egypt. He assured that the remaining 50 foreign students would have their expenses settled promptly.

The commissioner highlighted that in February 2024, the governor had already disbursed local scholarships to all state students studying in 36 tertiary institutions across Nigeria. He expressed gratitude for the governor's continuous support and commitment to enhancing the higher education sector.
