Man Dies by Suicide in Abeokuta, Drops Note Expressing Frustration

A man identified as Ayobami Oshoko has reportedly taken his own life at his home in the Mango, Oke-Ata area of Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Sources revealed that Oshoko was found dead around 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Confirming the incident, the Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, stated that the deceased is believed to have ingested insecticide due to financial hardship.

According to Odutola, the man’s sister, Funmilayo, reported the incident to the Lafenwa Police Division after finding her brother's lifeless body in his room, with a bottle of insecticide beside him.

Odutola explained that a friend of the deceased had visited and discovered Oshoko’s body on the floor. It was later found that he had ingested a mixture of insecticide and herbal concoction. A note written in Yoruba was left at the scene, where Oshoko expressed frustration with his life and the circumstances that led to his decision. The police are currently conducting a discreet investigation into the matter.
