Man Remanded for Attacking, and Pulling Woman’s Dreadlocks in Ogun

A man named Oluwaseun Adebayo was placed in custody at the Sagamu Correctional Centre on Tuesday for reportedly assaulting and forcibly removing the dreadlocks of Esther Odusanya. The incident took place on Awosanya street, opposite Iyaloja house, Ajaka, Sagamu.

Adebayo was presented before Senior Magistrate Omolara Osanyin in a Sagamu Magistrate’s Court, facing three charges related to assault and bodily harm.

According to reports, on Saturday, Adebayo allegedly used physical force against Esther, delivering punches and forcibly removing her dreadlocks, resulting in harm and discomfort for Esther.

The charge against Adebayo stated: 'On August 26, 2023, around 11:05 am, at Awosanya street, opposite Iyaloja house, Ajaka, Sagamu, in the Sagamu Magisterial district, you unlawfully assaulted Odusanya Olaoluwa Esther by physically beating her on her face and head, thereby causing bodily harm. This act is punishable under section 355 of the criminal code of Ogun state of Nigeria 2006.

'On the same date, time, and location within the aforementioned magisterial district, you unlawfully and inherently assaulted Odusanya Olaoluwa Esther, using fist blows all over her body, committing an offense punishable under Section 360 of the Criminal Code Law of Ogun state of Nigeria, 2006.

'Furthermore, on the same date, time, and place within the aforementioned magisterial district, you unlawfully wounded and assaulted Odusanya Olaoluwa Esther by forcibly removing her dreadlocks hair from her head, causing her bodily discomfort. This act is punishable under Section 338 of the Criminal Code Law of Ogun state of Nigeria, 2006.'

Adebayo, however, entered a plea of not guilty in response to the charges.

Magistrate Osanyin ordered the detention of the defendant and granted him bail in the amount of N200,000.

The case was adjourned by Osanyin and is scheduled to resume on October 27, 2023."
