Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA spokesperson, rebuffed the claim, clarifying that the agency's pictures and caption posted on Thursday did not indicate the singer's appointment as an ambassador.

The agency sparked discussions among Nigerians when it shared images of Naira Marley at its office on Thursday.

In a video shared by TVC on Friday, August 18, Femi Babafemi contradicted the assertion, emphasizing that the singer was neither appointed as an ambassador for the anti-narcotic agency nor as an ambassador for the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA).

On Thursday, August 17, the NDLEA tweeted that Naira Marley was at its headquarters to support its campaign against drug abuse. The agency also mentioned that the singer would soon release a video advocating against drug abuse.

Babafemi clarified in his tweet that Naira Marley was part of the WADA advocacy campaign but was not directly labeled as an ambassador for the agency. He stated, "See who’s on board ⁦@ndlea_nigeria⁩ War Against Drug Abuse, WADA, advocacy campaign; it’s your fav, Naira Marley."

While the NDLEA featured the singer's video on its platform and shared images of Naira Marley and his team with the chairman of the anti-narcotic agency, Buba Marwa, Babafemi emphasized on Friday that there was no indication in the photos and accompanying caption that Naira Marley had been appointed as an NDLEA or WADA ambassador.
