The Chief Communications Officer of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Olufemi Soneye, said on Tuesday that the ongoing fuel scarcity and queues in Nigeria will be cleared out by Wednesday.

Speaking to journalists in Lagos, Soneye reassured Nigerians that the company has an availability of product exceeding 1.5 billion litres, which can last for at least 30 days.

Soneye explained that the recent disruption was due to logistical issues, which caused a three-day disruption in distribution but has since been resolved. He expressed concern over some people taking advantage of the situation to make undue profits.

The National Vice President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Hammed Fashola, also expressed optimism about easing queues, particularly in Lagos and Ogun, based on NNPCL's assurance.

However, Fashola acknowledged potential delays in Abuja, citing logistics challenges and distance from Lagos. He assured that it might take some time before the situation eases off in Abuja, considering the distance to Lagos and the bad roads. Lagos, on the other hand, might be calm this new week.
