NUC Grants Accreditation to Courses at Ajayi Crowther University

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation to 11 additional programs at Ajayi Crowther University (ACU) in Oyo State, spanning seven faculties. This announcement was made on Tuesday, referencing a letter from the NUC dated June 6, 2024.

The newly accredited programs include Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Agriculture, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Mass Communication, Computer Engineering, Electrical Electronics Engineering, Survey and Geo-informatics, Economics, and Peace, Strategic and Conflict Resolution. Radiography and Radiation Science received interim accreditation.

The accreditation was granted under Section 10 (l) of the Education Act, which empowers the NUC to set minimum academic standards for Nigerian universities and to accredit their programs.

ACU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Timothy Adebayo, expressed his delight, stating, “This significant achievement signifies the University’s unwavering commitment to providing high-quality education and maintaining the highest standards of academic excellence.”

He emphasized the rigorous nature of the accreditation process, involving thorough evaluations by the NUC, and praised the hard work and dedication of the university’s faculty, staff, and students.

Prof. Adebayo highlighted the importance of this achievement for the university’s students, noting that accredited courses ensure a recognized and respected education, enhancing academic and employment prospects.

The accreditation process began in September 2023, with NUC teams visiting ACU between October and December to assess the institution’s readiness and compliance with accreditation regulations.
