Osun Poly Student Alleges Lecturer's Extortion, Result Withholding

Boluwatife Adedokun

A student from Oduduwa Polytechnic, Ile-Ife, Osun State, identified as Jesulayomi Adedini, has accused a lecturer, Ogunjana Adeolu, of extortion and deliberately delaying her graduation from the institution.

She alleges that Adeolu, who heads the Department of Tourism and Hospitality, is withholding her results and final year project despite payment of N46,500 for the project.

Adeolu denies responsibility for the delay, stating, "I am a common employee. Whatever is happening to her results is not my responsibility. She is supposed to see the management to find out what the issues are. You should have enlightened her on the appropriate way to go."

Adedini claims that Adeolu's demand for additional funds and refusal to release her results are attempts to keep her in school.

"Even if I handed over what I have with me to her, I could receive a query," Adeolu remarked.

"She should meet the management and not me. She’s only creating problems for herself."

The polytechnic's rector, Siyanbola, remained unreachable for comment despite several attempts to reach him.
