Oyo State Government, under the leadership of Governor Oluwaseyi Makinde, has directed residents and owners of unlawfully -erected kiosks, containers, and shanties, and other roadside traders, to vacate the roadsides within seven days or face penalty.

This directive was made public in Ibadan on Tuesday by the Oyo State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Mr Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola while on an inspection tour of the Ojoo area of the state.

The commissioner hinted that the illegal residents were causing unjustified blocking of road traffic.

He stated that their behavior was conflicting with the state’s Environmental Sanitation Regulation, 2013, and noted that their action constituted an environmental inconvenience.

He equally opined that the business activities could be relocated to more suitable places in neighborhood markets. ”This will checkmate road accidents and avoid loss of lives and property,” the official emphasized.
