The Nigeria Police has disclosed that a Yoruba Nation agitator, Olamilekan Odofin, has been apprehended after over a year on the run.

The Lagos Police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement on his X handle, said the 34-year-old was apprehended by officers of Ayobo Division.

According to Hundeyin, the suspect, on January 9, 2023, championed attacks on motorists and the police under the guise of Yoruba Nation agitation.

The spokesperson added that an Investigation is ongoing following the arrest.

At least one person died, two policemen got injured and some vehicles damaged, during the protest by agitators for the Yoruba nation last year in Ojota, Lagos.

The pro-Yoruba separatist group and the police pointed accusing fingers at each other over who provoked the clash.

The agitators claimed that the police provoked the clash after its men tried to disperse the rally and the agitators refused to heed.
