The Lagos State Police Command announced on Thursday that it prevented a 19-year-old girl from committing suicide by ingesting a substance suspected to be insecticide. The girl had lost her hard-earned money to a fraudster and was abandoned by the man who impregnated her in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, stating that officers from the Ikorodu Area Command rescued the young woman following a tip-off from a concerned citizen.

.

Hundeyin explained that the girl confessed to contemplating suicide due to emotional distress. She revealed that the man who impregnated her had refused to take responsibility for the pregnancy. Additionally, she had been scammed by a fraudster, losing her earnings from her Point of Sale business, which exacerbated her emotional and financial struggles.

The young woman is currently receiving necessary psychological support while the investigation is underway to identify and apprehend all individuals involved in her predicament.

The command emphasized the importance of mental health awareness and encouraged anyone facing similar challenges to seek help promptly.
