Police says Nine Injured in Ogun Gas Explosion

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed that a gas explosion occurred on Saturday at a steel company in Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government Area, resulting in nine injuries. 

The incident took place at Phoenix Steel Mills, as stated by SP Omolola Odutola, the State Police Public Relations Officer, in a statement on Sunday. Odutola specified that the victims were factory workers who were subsequently transported to Rolayo Private Hospital in Ikorodu, Lagos State.

The statement described the incident as an industrial accident that transpired at Phoenix Metal Company in Ogijo on March 9 at 9:38 pm. 

Eyewitnesses attributed the explosion to a cylinder blast at the melting point area, causing injuries to staff members.

Efforts by community youths to retaliate were met with intervention from police and an Army detachment from the 174 battalions in Odogunyan Ikorodu.
