Ramadan: Yobe Hisbah Arrest 14 For Immorality,Use Of Illicit Drugs

Operatives of the Yobe State Hisbah Board have detained at least 14 commercial sex workers on suspicion of engaging in immoral activities and drug use.

Alhaji Yusuf Umar, the state's commissioner of religious affairs and ethnic reorientation, revealed this in a Tuesday interview in Damaturu.

According to Umar, the suspects were taken into custody on Sunday by Hisbah agents working with the police.

He stated that the suspect, nine (9) females and five (5) males, had been arrested for engaging in immoral activities that defied Islamic teachings during Ramadan.

Alh Umar further stated that some of the suspects would be turned over to security services for prosecution, while others would be taken to clerics for counseling.

He advised the people of the state, especially youths, to abstain from vices and immoral behavior that could ruin their future and encourage social decadence.

The Commissioner also praised the people of the state for their support and cooperation in helping the board to efficiently carry out its duties. The Hisbah board pledged to keep up its fight against immoral activities throughout the entire state.
