A tanker carrying 33,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) overturned and spilled its contents at Okebadan, Agugu, Ibadan, prompting the Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA) to respond.

The incident was caused by a malfunctioning turntable, according to Major Adesagba Adekoya (rtd), the agency's Executive Chairman, who responded quickly along with personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, the Oyo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun operatives, and the Oyo State Fire Service.

He revealed that despite no fatalities, the incident resulted in gridlock on the route.

''People should drive carefully on public highways, especially while towing large objects'', Major Adesagba advised.

Additionally, he has advised heavy-duty vehicle and tanker drivers to make sure that their vehicles are in good operating condition before starting a journey.

Road users are urged to be patient during this time and to work with traffic officials who are trying to get the situation under control, he stated.

The head of OYRTMA praised other sister organizations and individuals who have helped with the incident response and situation management thus far, and the organization reaffirmed its commitment to guaranteeing road safety for all state road users.

The area has been roped off while the contents are being transferred to a different tanker.
