Sanwo-Olu to Immortalise Late Founder of Access Bank

Sanwo-Olu acknowledged Wigwe's significant contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic, where he collaborated with partners to alleviate its impact.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has pledged to honor the memory of the late founder of Access Bank, Herbert Wigwe, who was born at the Island Maternity Hospital in Lagos. 

Sanwo-Olu made this commitment at an event commemorating the late Group Chief Executive, Dr. Herbert Wigwe, titled "Celebrating Herbert Wigwe – A Professional Legacy." The event highlighted Wigwe's various roles as a young individual, banker, entrepreneur, CEO, builder, and ambassador. 

Sanwo-Olu fondly recalled his last conversation with Wigwe on February 8, during which they discussed ambitious ideas. He praised Wigwe for his generosity, support for various projects, and willingness to embrace new challenges. 

Sanwo-Olu acknowledged Wigwe's significant contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic, where he collaborated with partners to alleviate its impact. 

Expressing his deep loss, the governor emphasized Wigwe's enduring legacy and stated that if birthplace were a measure, Wigwe would be considered a true son of Lagos. Sanwo-Olu assured that Lagos would honor Wigwe's memory and provide support to his family.
