Senate Suspends Ningi for Three Months

The Senate has suspended Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi for three months over the accusations he brought that the National Assembly passed two accounts of the 2024 budget. He was suspended on Tuesday, March 12, on the floor of the Senate.

The Senate was turbo-charged on March 12, over the suspension of Abdul Ahmed Ningi, senator representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly.

On his part, Jimoh Ibrahim, member of the Appropriation Committee in the Senate, moved a motion for Ningi’s suspension for 12 months over disinformation and breach of peace in the National Assembly and the country by extension.

Ibrahim, who represents Ondo South Senatorial District at the National Assembly also moved that the senate should send a warning to Suleiman Kawu, Senator representing Kano South for posting inciting information on social media and requested that he (Kawu) tender an apology. 

Senator Ibrahim’s motion was instantly seconded by his colleague representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Senator Ede Dafinone.

The Senate President, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio announced the motion on the floor of the senate.
