Suspended Treasurer, Spokesman Clash Over LP Chairman's Reelection

The recent re-election of Julius Abure as the national chairman of the Labour Party has sparked controversy, particularly with the condemnation voiced by the suspended National Treasurer, Mrs. Oluchi Opara.

Abure secured his second term as chairman during the party's convention in Nnewi, Anambra State, amid unanimous support from delegates.

However, this decision has intensified tensions, given Abure's previous conflicts with the Joe Ajaero-led Nigeria Labour Congress over party control.

The NLC's call for Abure's resignation and their letter to the Independent National Electoral Commission, urging non-support for the party's National Convention, further fueled the discord within the party.
