Mr Zacch Adedeji made this statement while handing over CNG buses to Olusesan Adebiyi of State House Permanent Secretary at Abuja Presidential Villa.

NAN reports that Adedeji, acting Chairman of Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), was represented by Farouk Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer, Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Agency.

He pointed out that President Bola Tinubu's administration's commitment to leading an energy revolution through CNG conversion centers demonstrated their dedication and also noted that more CNG conversion centers would soon open nationwide.

He stated that this effort marked an integral step toward building a greener and economically sound future in Nigeria, noting that the project not only involved converting vehicles but also creating employment opportunities.

Adedeji disclosed that FIRS will waive Value Added Tax on CNG purchases as well as seek duty exemptions across its value chain.

H"These CNG buses will set an example for cleaner and cheaper energy sources in the future," stated Minister Maulavi Sarma.

Adedeji expressed gratitude for all those involved with the project who provided support, including President Mohammed V of Saudi Arabia and all his subcontractors.

AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum and Governor of Kwara State, noted that this event marked an historic turning point in Nigeria as it embarks on its gradual shift from petroleum-powered vehicles to natural gas vehicles.

He noted that universities would be among the primary beneficiaries, though all state governments will also leverage them.

"For decades, those of us working in the gas industry have called for action of this magnitude.

Nigeria is predominantly a gas nation; approximately seventy percent or more of our hydrocarbon resources comprise gas. Therefore, why are we investing so heavily in crude oil production?"

Today is an important turning point, and President Tinubu's bold move from petroleum to natural gas marks the start of an important transformational period."

Mr Chinedu Oguegbu, managing Director of Nigerian automobile manufacturer OMAA Motors expressed appreciation to Tinubu for taking such an impressive initiative.

"Nigeria has made great strides toward energy transition while strengthening industrialisation by supporting vehicles made locally and by patronising made-in-Nigeria vehicles."
