In a strategic move to tackle the threat of kidnapping and criminal activities in Taraba State, troops from 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS) carried out a decisive clearance operation on Tuesday.

The operation resulted in the successful destruction of multiple kidnappers’ camps and the recovery of valuable items in Chinkai Forest in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The clearance operation was undertaken by troops of 93 Battalion Sub-Sector 3B OPWS in response to actionable intelligence reports detailing the ongoing criminal activities of terrorist groups sheltering in the Chinkai Forest.

The soldiers thoroughly combed through the dense forest areas known for hiding kidnappers’ camps, prompting the terrorists to flee upon sighting the advancing troops.
The operation resulted in the destruction of many makeshift structures linked to wanted kidnapping kingpins like Isah, Shagari, Dogo, and Teller.

During the raid, the soldiers recovered valuable items from the dismantled camps, including 12 mobile phones, 3 international passports, and various mystical charms utilized by the criminals.

According to the army, this successful clearance operation highlights the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 OPWS' ongoing resolve to confront insecurity head-on in Taraba State.

The public was urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by promptly notifying them of any suspicious activities within their communities.

According to the Nigerian Army, the safety and security of all citizens remain a priority, and operations like this are a means to reaffirm their commitment to eliminating criminal elements in Taraba State and its environs that threaten peace and stability.
