Two Churchgoers Drown in Ogun State

Two individuals, Femi Akinola and Tunde Falade, lost their lives by drowning in a river while swimming on Monday. 

According to Omolola Odutola, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, who issued a statement on Tuesday, Femi Akinola (32) from Odo Eran, Itire, Lagos State, and Tunde Falade (35) from Kola Alagbado, Lagos, were visitors from Lagos attending the Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Onikoko. 

They were reported dead at the Ifo General Hospital, having been taken there after being rescued from the river's strong currents.

The Police Public Relations Officer explained, "A member of the church, Adebayo Adeosun, informed the station around 6.30pm that a group of seven boys, who had come from Lagos on August 27, 2023, to attend his church's inauguration, left the church premises to swim and tragically drowned."

Odutola further stated that the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Olayemi Jacob, dispatched a team to the location upon receiving the report. The DPO confirmed that there were no signs of violence or suspected foul play at the scene.
