Abba Limawa, a 52-year-old pilgrim from Dutse Local Government in Jigawa State, Nigeria, has made headlines in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, after returning a substantial amount of foreign currency to the authorities.

The money, consisting of $800, 10,500 Russian rubles, and 690 Saudi Riyals, was found in a waist bag while Limawa was on his way to pray at the Masjid Haram (Mosque).

Initially, Limawa considered ignoring the bag, but his second thoughts led him to believe it might belong to a Nigerian, particularly an elderly woman. He decided to pick it up and proceed to the mosque.

Upon returning to his accommodation, he opened the bag and found no Nigerian currency or any indication that it belonged to a Nigerian. This prompted him to approach an official from the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Boards, who commended Limawa for his honesty and integrity.

The official then handed over the money to the Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Malam Jalal Arabi, during a post-Afarat conference in Makkah. Arabi praised Limawa for his exemplary character and for projecting a positive image of Nigeria internationally.
