Adeleke Responds to Critics: "I Have No Choice But to Succeed"

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to delivering quality governance and fulfilling his campaign promises to the people of the state. Addressing journalists in Lagos on Sunday after speaking at the 7th Memorial Anniversary Lecture in honor of St. Moses Orimolade, the founder of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Adeleke emphasized that he has "no choice but to succeed."

In a statement released by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke noted that his administration’s focus on public interest and effective governance has frustrated opposition efforts to undermine his work. He assured the public that his government is tackling both major and minor challenges across various sectors to improve service delivery.

“We remain committed to the people and our governance agenda,” Adeleke said, highlighting achievements in infrastructure, health, the digital economy, agriculture, commerce and industry, climate change, education, sports, and workers’ welfare. “By God’s grace and with the support of the people, we have accomplished a great deal."

Addressing his critics, Adeleke stated, “When someone succeeds where others have failed, it’s natural for them to feel envious or bitter. But I urge them to prioritize the public good over personal grievances. As for me, I have no choice but to succeed.”

He further pointed out that the opposition struggles to understand how his administration has made significant progress in a short period, leading to tactics like spreading misinformation and personal attacks.

Earlier in his lecture on ‘The Role of the Church in the Delivery of Good Governance,’ Adeleke urged religious institutions to speak the truth at all times and engage constructively with political leaders. He emphasized the importance of promoting free and fair elections, respect for human dignity, and adherence to the rule of law.
