In an interview with journalists on Sunday, Shehu Sani, a former lawmaker from Kaduna, has cautioned President Bola Tinubu against making the same appointment-related mistakes as his immediate predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari.
To get results, the former legislator urged President Tinubu to give competency priority while appointing people.
Sani said that nepotism was at its pinnacle under Buhari's eight-year government, which ran from May 2015 to May 2023, but results were not created in many sectors of governance, including security, the economy, education, and healthcare.
Sani went on to say that the situation in northern Nigeria reflects the inability of political leaders, particularly those from the region, to use political power to eliminate underdevelopment in the region's 19 states.
