The Labour Party (LP) candidate from the 2023 presidential election, Mr. Peter Obi has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to guarantee a fair and credible governorship election in Edo State, scheduled for September 21.

Speaking at a rally in Benin City on Wednesday in support of Olumide Akpata, the LP candidate for the governorship election, Obi emphasized the importance of electoral integrity and called on the citizens of Edo to actively resist any attempts at electoral manipulation by political parties.

He expressed confidence that the Labour Party would bring about significant change for the benefit of the populace.

Obi highlighted that if elected, Akpata would address federal road issues affecting the state without relying on federal intervention.

He criticized governors who shift responsibilities to the federal government, asserting that Akpata would take a different approach.

He encouraged citizens to come out in large numbers to vote for Akpata and his running mate, Yusuf Kadiri.

Additionally, Professor Datti Baba-Ahmed, Obi’s running mate in the 2023 presidential election, urged supporters to harness their collective strength to secure victory for their candidate.

He stressed the importance of voting and protecting their votes, reinforcing that political power ultimately resides with the people.
