Demonstration occurred in Kogi State on Sunday, where a large group of women protested against what they perceive as the unjust treatment of former Governor Yahaya Bello by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The protesters, who included community leaders and party supporters, gathered in Lokoja, the state capital, to voice their concerns over what they labeled a "witch-hunt" against Bello.

The women urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene, asserting that Bello has contributed more to the state than any previous governor since its establishment. They expressed their belief that the allegations against him are politically motivated to damage his reputation.

One of the demonstrators, Hajiya Halima Abass, emphasized their commitment to supporting Bello during this challenging time, stating, "We stand with our leader, Yahaya Bello, in this trying time. We believe he has been targeted unfairly and we demand justice."

The protesters articulated their discontent with the EFCC's actions, calling for the agency to focus on legitimate corruption cases rather than engaging in political vendetta.

Another participant, Mrs. Boluwaji, remarked that the EFCC should prioritize genuine cases of corruption over perceived political motivations.

The demonstration featured speeches delivered in local dialects such as Igala, Ebira, and Yoruba. Leaders from various women's groups highlighted their appreciation for Bello's governance and reiterated their determination to protect him from what they consider unjust persecution.

Hajiya Fatima from Ebiraland stated that they would not allow Bello to be "crucified," while another leader from Kogi East, Mrs. Deborah, affirmed her community's support for him.

Yahaya Bello has been facing serious allegations by the EFCC for corruption involving N80 billion. He was accused of conspiring to divert state funds for personal use and a warrant has been issued for his arrest after he reportedly failed to appear in court multiple times.
