Former Federal Commissioner for Information and South South Leader, Chief Edwin Clark, has revealed that soldiers stormed and raided his country home, Kiagbodo, Delta State, both by air and by land, in search of illegally possessed ammunition.

The Elder statesman claims that on Saturday, March 23, 2024, the Army stormed his home. They arrived in five trucks, each carrying between thirty and forty armed soldiers, and they used their legs to break through every door in the compound, including the security door to his sitting room, which was locked because he lives in Abuja.

At his Asokoro Residence in Abuja on Tuesday, Clark, the leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum, (PANDEF), told journalists that at the same time, drones were flying throughout the premises, while some also went to the buildings behind the main house and broke all the locked doors. In addition, the soldiers matched out his staff, including lecturers at the University, who were forced to sit on the bare ground in these buildings.

Clark also said that the soldiers had broken into the home of his late brother, Ambassador Akporode Blessing Clark, who had represented Nigeria internationally in a number of positions, including Permanent Representative to the UN and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stating that they both reside in the same premises. He further stated that when they raided the residence, they dragged out his son nearly naked as the young man was taking a bath.

The elder statesman has however demanded for the establishment of a Commission of Inquiry to investigate the deaths of the 16 soldiers and officers of the 181 Amphibious Battalion at Okuama, in the Delta's Ughelli South Local Government Area.
