The Ondo State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has outlined key areas it hopes the next administration will focus on, stressing the need for economic growth and job opportunities. Speaking during a recent meeting with Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Ondo CAN Chairman Reverend Anselm Ologunwa highlighted the association's non-partisan stance but reiterated its commitment to supporting leaders who prioritize the welfare of the people.
“We need a government that actively advocates for peace and harmony. Economic development and job opportunities must remain a top priority,” Ologunwa stated, emphasizing CAN's dedication to its mission of promoting the teachings of Christ, independent of political affiliations. He announced that CAN has set aside November 10th as the beginning of a three-day prayer session for the peace and prosperity of Ondo State, saying, “We are praying for divine guidance and the peace of Ondo State. We trust that God will intervene.”
In response, Governor Aiyedatiwa reassured CAN of his administration’s commitment to serving the people with faith and integrity. “I am one of you, a born-again Christian, and I understand the spiritual responsibilities that come with leadership. The Ondo State government is anchored on the body of Christ, and as such, we cannot afford to fail,” he said. Aiyedatiwa urged continued prayers for wisdom in governance and for peaceful elections, reinforcing his administration’s alignment with the Christian community’s values.
